It was initiated by concerned individuals (Late: Paola Donati from Italy) and local volunteers James Luitel and Subhasan Bhattarai, who have given the prime of their life in service to God and their fellowman. BLF's founders believe that the Education is the key to any development and Nepal need lots of it. The aim of the Foundation is to help the needy wherever the need is, regardless of religion, caste or ethnic background. BLF is a non-profit making foundation and is registered with the Kathmandu district administration office and Social Welfare Council, Nepal Government. Three Main Objectives · Education · Basic Health Care · Income Generating Programs . Disaster Relief Foundation supports socially marginalized people including people below the poverty line, like the Dalits and indigenous communities, empowering them to enter into the mainstream of social development. Believing that the future of a nation depends upon the children, the foundation focuses on educating its children. As a result, children from lower economic strata are being provided with free schooling with a complete package of tuition, board, clothing and stationary. Similarly, the foundation is also working on the areas of health, vocational training, adult learning, peace building, etc, and is gearing up for the programs with much greater coverage for the days ahead. The foundation has been completely managed by a few dedicated and well-experienced members on a voluntary basis. As a result, there has been better utilization of the limited resources, and more resources have directly gone to the grass root level, where they are needed the most. Due to the armed conflict in Nepal, the last few years were very challenging for the foundation. We would like to thank our dear patrons and supporters for their understanding and patience with the ongoing political situation in Nepal, and their continued support to our work.
